Forecasters' discussion
From the National Weather Service office in LCH, issued 5 hrs ago
Key Messages
- Warm afternoons and cool nights will continue through the week.
- Precipitation chances return next weekend.
- Wildfire risk will remain elevated through Monday in response to ongoing drought conditions and afternoon relative humidity dropping to 25-35% each day.
Discussion
(This evening through next Saturday) Issued at 1210 PM CDT Sun Oct 25 2026
While the weather is currently in broken record status there are signs in the data and future model guidance that the pattern is starting to shift. At first it will be in the form of high clouds spreading into the region ahead of a trough west of the region.
Moisture will gradually increase through the week after today with some meager precip chances trying to sneak into the Texas portion of the forecast area. However the best chances do not come until the weekend. Even then amounts do not look that great initially to break the ongoing drought conditions. Temperatures will also be moderating through the end of the week, especially on the overnight lows.
Aviation
(18Z TAFS) Issued at 1210 PM CDT Sun Oct 25 2026
VFR is expected this forecast cycle with a little more easterly and northeasterly winds than the past few days. There will be more high clouds moving across the region, however no impacts to terminals.
Marine
Issued at 1210 PM CDT Sun Oct 25 2026
Breezy east winds of 15-20 kt will continue across the coastal waters through early this week in response to the gradient between high pressure over the mid Atlantic and an area of low pressure near the Bahamas. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for the offshore Gulf marine zones east of Cameron through early Monday morning, though small craft should exercise caution in any open waters through the weekend. This advisory may need to be extended later into Monday, but thereafter winds should generally weaken as the pressure gradient relaxes.
