Discussion
KEY MESSAGE 1...Mostly dry weather through next Thursday. Isolated showers possible Monday with little to no measurable rainfall, leading to continued drought conditions.
KEY MESSAGE 1 DESCRIPTION... Extended period of dry weather continues through the weekend and likely through Thursday. A ridge extending north through the Mississippi Valley will maintain a resemblance of an omega block through the week.
A weak trough with fast zonal flow will bring a cold front through the area on Monday. This front will have very little moisture to work with but may be able to squeeze out some light rain showers through Monday morning before frontolysis takes over and washes the feature out over the Downeast region. Chance for precip was increased with this forecast as the NBM likely washed out the chance for such isolated/scattered showers, which readily appear on individual CAMs runs. That said, with little moisture to work with, only a hundredth or two of precipitation is expected at most, and generally dry conditions will continue with no drought relief. Highs will be above normal on Sun and Mon with temps dropping back into the 40s Tue and Wed behind the FROPA.
Aviation
Tonight...VFR. Winds light and variable.
Sunday-Sunday night...VFR. SW 5 to 10 kts, with LLWS possibly developing late at KFVE.
Monday-Monday night...Mainly VFR, though cannot rule out brief MVFR Aroostook terminals Monday. LLWS possible early, especially from KHUL/KMLT northwards. Winds shifting NW and increasing 10 to 15 kts behind a front.
Tuesday-Tuesday night...VFR. NW 5-15kts gusting to 20kts Tuesday, becoming WNW 5kts Tuesday night.
Wednesday-Thursday...VFR. Winds light and variable, becoming S 5 to 10 kts Thursday afternoon.
