Key Messages
- Elevated fire danger conditions persist for central Georgia through Friday afternoon due to low relative humidity.
- Rain-free conditions and near-seasonal temperatures will remain for the next 7 days, with a slight cool-down Friday through early next week.
Short Term
(Today through Saturday) Issued at 317 AM EDT Fri Oct 23 2026
The benign weather pattern continues with high pressure solidly over the area. As a result near zero rain chances continue through the weekend with mostly clear skies across the area. Also expecting temperatures right around normal for this time of year with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and overnight lows in the mid to upper 40s. Temperatures on Saturday will be slightly cooler with a wedge of cooler air setting up. Highs Saturday will top out in the upper 60s as a result. Main concern will continue to be fire weather with dry air in place. Relative humidity values at 25% or less are expected over central Georgia this afternoon and evening which has resulted in a fire danger statement. Although conditions remain dry on Saturday, slightly higher dewpoints are likely to keep relative humidity values outside of critical thresholds.
Long Term
(Saturday night through Thursday) Issued at 317 AM EDT Fri Oct 23 2026
As has been the case for quite some time, the forecast through the end of next week remains on the quiet side. Precipitation chances will remain nil as high pressure will dominate and indications of more substantial opportunities for rain staying just beyond the end of the current forecast period.
In the meantime, a CAD wedge will be the dominant feature through the weekend while the surface high will migrate southward into early next week. Thus, cooler temperatures early in the week will gradually modify and warm from mid-to-late week. All this means is early week temperatures will creep from near to slightly below normal to a few degrees above normal. Meanwhile, the upper pattern becomes much less amplified and begins to transition to a more southwesterly flow by the end of the week, potentially leading into a wetter pattern headed into November.
Aviation
(06Z TAFS) Issued at 156 AM EDT Fri Oct 23 2026
SKC expected to continue through the period with E winds. Winds overnight will be in the 3-5kt range and by the afternoon will be in the 7-10kt range.
