Discussion
Issued at 1206 PM CDT Wed Oct 21 2026
Mainly quiet weather will continue across South Texas this week. A weak disturbance over the western Gulf will bring a chance for showers, and possibly a thunderstorm, tonight over the coast and coastal waters. This feature will move inland to the southwest Thursday with a low chance for showers across the southern portion of the CWA. A mid to upper level ridge will build over the region during the end of the week keeping the weather dry through the weekend. Temperatures will continue to be just a bit above normal with highs in the 80s. Low temperatures Thursday morning will be a few degrees warmer than the last couple of days with more cloudiness from the westward moving disturbance. Clearer skies will allow for cooler mornings over the weekend. Another weak disturbance from the Gulf will bring a chance for rain next Monday with better chances over the Coastal Plains. Tuesday models are showing a frontal boundary moving through North Texas with an expansive area of rain across the eastern half of the state. Still a lot of uncertainty.
Guidance continues to show elevated tidal levels and the potential for minor coastal flooding continues through the week.

A bit of a tricky forecast as a weak disturbance over the Gulf may bring some -SHRA into the picture at CRP and ALI later this afternoon through the overnight hours. Opted to continue with PROB30 groups to account for the uncertainty. Otherwise, some MVFR stratus which could be a bit wind-shield wiper like, with back and forth to VFR/MVFR is expected overnight, primarily along the coast, but some of those low clouds are expected to work inland for a short time tomorrow morning. Winds should generally remain less than 10 kts, but a brief gust up over 15 kts is possible, primarily at CRP. Winds will generally remain east to east-southeasterly at less than 10 kts.
Marine
Issued at 1206 PM CDT Wed Oct 21 2026
Mainly a gentle to moderate easterly flow can be expected through the period with winds shifting more onshore by this weekend. A moderate to high rain chance will continue tonight. Additional rain chances will return next Monday.
