Update
Issued 700 AM CDT Thu Oct 22 2026
Some patchy fog out there this morning but as the sun comes up fog will clear out with light winds and mostly clear conditions through the day. Some models are suggestive of the lake breeze today increasing moisture behind it and potentially setting up a situation for fog and low stratus tonight, primarily near the lake. Dense fog will be possible.

Short Term
Issued 1152 PM CDT Wed Oct 21 2026
The rest of tonight through Thursday night:
Mostly clear skies and light winds under high pressure will continue tonight into Thursday. Temps have been dropping a bit faster this evening than anticipated, so may need to lower overnight lows a bit. Still think there could be some patchy fog later tonight into early Thursday. Highs tomorrow will be very similar to this past afternoon, though may be a touch cooler near the lake under light onshore winds. Wouldn't be surprised by more fog chances Thursday night, as the light winds and limited cloud cover continue.

Long Term
Issued 1152 PM CDT Wed Oct 21 2026
Friday through Wednesday:
Surface high pressure and an upper ridge are expected to maintain enough of influence across southern Wisconsin to keep dry weather and above normal temps going Friday through Sunday. Dry weather may persist into Monday, depending on the timing of a trough and front passage, which has been trending slower. The trough is likely to move through by Tuesday, bringing rain chances back to the forecast area along with cooler conditions for mid-week.
