Key Messages
Updated at 950 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026
- Marine small craft operators should exercise caution through this evening.
- Near critical relative humidity amidst breezy winds may foster some fire concerns the next couple days. With a stagnant pattern, fire concerns may continue into next weekend.
Update
Issued at 950 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026
Forecast is largely on track with no wholesale changes needed.
Short Term And Long Term
(Today through next Monday) Issued at 223 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026
Dry and sunny conditions are expected to continue through the forecast period as an upper level trough remains to the east and upper level ridging builds to the west. Surface high pressure will keep winds relatively light for the next couple of days and calm winds likely during the overnight hours. This will allow for morning lows to fall into the upper 40s through mid-week. Afternoon highs are forecast to continue to warm into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees by the end of the work week.
Approaching the weekend, a surface low that is forecast to develop in the western Atlantic will create a tightening pressure gradient that will bring breezy winds over the region for the weekend. These winds may also keep afternoon temperatures within the 70s for the upcoming weekend. Overnight lows are expected to generally be in the 50s for the weekend.
Aviation
(12Z TAFS) Issued at 621 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026
Continued prevailing VFR conds expected this cycle with lighter NE winds, occasionally gusting to near 20 kts later this morning. Winds then slacken after sunset. Skies should remain mostly clear.
