What Has Changed

No changes to the forecast. Looking at dry weather through the end of the month.

Aviation Discussion Forecast updated to reflect period of morning cloudiness and some river fog in the mountain valleys.

Key Messages

1) Dry weather through Halloween.

Discussion

KEY MESSAGE 1:Dry through Halloween

Light easterly flow bringing shallow marine moisture into the area resulting in layer of strato-cu for some areas. This cloud layer is thin and trapped underneath the subsidence inversion. Similar to Saturday, this cloud layer should thin and burn off for the afternoon leaving us with Mostly sunny skies.

In general looking at dry weather to persist this upcoming week with little or no rain chance through the end of the month. The dry airmass will continue to promote cool nights and warm afternoons. Can't rule out some patchy frost at night otherwise no weather hazards that are noteworthy. The airmass will promote low afternoon humidity so very conducive for drying of leaf litter and supportive of prescribed fire.

System out west...storm which has been impacting the Rockies... is forecast to move northeast and across the top of the ridge of high pressure over our part of the country. As such, should see some increase in mid/upper clouds for Wednesday, but no rain. After that next feature to bring appreciable cloud cover and chance for rain would be after the 1st of November.

Aviation

Area of stratocumulus has developed vcnty of the Blue Ridge. Similar to Saturday, this MVFR cloud element will linger through mid-late morning before dissipating. There is also some fog along the New and Greenbrier rivers with impacts to vsby at LWB. This fog was generally confined to the rivers and not widespread. Aside for these morning hazards, expecting widespread VFR for this afternoon with little or no cloud cover. Winds today will be light from the northeast or east with speeds generally under 6 KTS.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK...

VFR conditions will likely continue into next week as higher pressure dominates the region. The next best chance of any precipitation may not be until the start of November. Early morning river fog may still be possible with impacts mainly to KLWB for a few hours each morning.
