Discussion
Issued at 121 AM CDT Fri Oct 23 2026
Relatively quiet weather is expected across South Texas through the weekend as weak mid-level ridging, limited moisture, and a lack of appreciable forcing keep rain chances low. A few isolated to scattered remain possible, mainly through much of next week. Otherwise, east to southeast low-level flow will persist.
The upper-level pattern becomes more unsettled early next week as ridging shifts east and troughing develops across the central CONUS. Latest model guidance has backed off on bringing a cold front through South Texas, with the boundary now expected to remain north of the CWA. Nevertheless, increasing moisture and passing disturbances aloft will support low to moderate chances for showers and thunderstorms beginning Monday or Tuesday and continuing through much of next week. With stronger forcing remaining north of the region, widespread rainfall appears unlikely, though uncertainty remains regarding precipitation timing and coverage.
Temperatures will remain near seasonal normals for highs and slightly above normal for lows. With no significant frontal passage anticipated, little change in temperatures is expected through the end of the period.
Guidance continues to suggest elevated tides continue this weekend according to P-ETSS. Leading to the potential for minor coastal flooding into early next week. Astronomical tides combined with onshore flow around 15 knots will increase the risk of rip currents this weekend, so have a moderate rip current risk through at least Saturday. Please use caution if going to the beach.
Aviation
(12Z TAFS) Issued at 616 AM CDT Fri Oct 23 2026

Overall, VFR conditions can be expected through most of the TAF cycle with brief MVFR conditions expected once again early Saturday morning, mainly across VCT. Southeast winds at 5-15 knots can be expected this afternoon, then light tonight.
Marine
Issued at 121 AM CDT Fri Oct 23 2026
Gentle to moderate (BF 3-4) east to southeast winds will prevail through much of the period, with occasionally fresh (BF 5) conditions possible during the afternoon hours this weekend. Rain chances will remain minimal through Sunday before increasing to low to moderate levels early next work week as moisture deepens and disturbances move across the region.
