Discussion

Key Message 1: Dry weather continues the remainder of this week and into this weekend with near normal daytime temperatures.

No significant changes are expected to the overall weather pattern across the region during the next seven days due to a persistent upper-level blocking pattern. Dry conditions continue with daytime temperatures near seasonal values, the upper 60s to lower 70s, through the weekend. Upper ridging moves slowly east and may break down during the early to middle portion of next week resulting slightly warmer temperatures with forecast highs in the lower to mid 70s. As is typical during this type of autumnal pattern, warm days will be followed by cool nights with near to below normal overnight temperatures, though values should remain above the freezing mark. The one caveat to a perfect weekend will be breezy northeast winds caused by an increased pressure gradient due to high pressure over New England. At the moment, wind gusts are expected to remain below Lake Wind Advisory criteria but trends will be monitored.

Aviation

VFR conditions expected through the next 24 hours.

Skies remain clear with light winds and is expected to continue overnight. Winds may be stronger by mid- morning Friday with slightly better mixing leading to higher wind gusts. This could bring winds back up to around 7-10 kts, and gusts around 15 kts towards 14z-16z at all locations and continue in the afternoon. As for fog, can not completely rule out another morning of patchy shallow ground fog, but no significant restrictions expected as it remains too dry near the surface.

EXTENDED AVIATION OUTLOOK...A bit more moisture increases this weekend possibly leading to areas of patchy fog; especially with locations near bodies of water. However, low-level moisture still may not be enough as confidence is low in development of patchy fog.
