Discussion

As of 300 AM Sunday...

KEY MESSAGE 1... A continuation of dry and seasonable conditions is expected through this week, with moderating temperatures to around 10F above average by Halloween.

A sub-tropical ridge will progress slowly ewd and across the Southeast this week, then drift off the South Atlantic coast by next weekend. An increasingly-active srn stream will direct a series of perturbations across the lwr mid-latitudes and sub-tropics mid week through the weekend.

At the surface, a series of reinforcing, Canadian surface highs will progress across the Great Lakes and Middle Atlantic and extend across cntl NC through the week, with the next in the series led swd by a moisture-starved backdoor front across the srn Middle Atlantic late Tue-early Wed. The ridge and airmass will then modify/moderate while extending across the region through Halloween. A prolonged period of dry and mild conditions will result.

Aviation

As of 200 AM Sunday...

High pressure will extend across the region and maintain primarily VFR conditions in cntl NC through the 06Z TAF period. However, a fleeting MVFR ceilings will be possible again this morning at INT/GSO around and more likely just after 12Z; and shallow radiation fog will be possible tonight at RWI due to local effects. Nely flow around the aforementioned surface high will strengthen and become gusty to near 20 kts at FAY and RWI with daytime heating, then diminish by sunset.

Outlook: A reinforcing, moisture-starved cold front will move across NC Tue night, with following nely flow that will result in a risk of MVFR ceilings Wed and Thu morning.
