DISCUSSION...

Blocking pattern will result in surface high pressure and ridging being entrenched across the Great Lakes yielding quiet weather conditions through the week.

A surface high pressure will move across the northern Great Lakes into Quebec tonight and tomorrow. Light southwesterly winds today will become more east-northeasterly for tomorrow while remaining light. This shift in winds brings the only notable weather item for this forecast, which will be the potential for some isolated areas of patchy shallow fog that may develop with the help of the lake moisture.

Thermal profiles over the course of the week will not change all that much with a persisting warmer airmass that brings temperatures that are a few degrees above climatological norms. Look for afternoon highs mainly in the 60s with overnight lows ranging from the mid-upper 30s to mid 40s.

The active northern stream across central Canada will attempt to send a front into the region. It should weaken as it progresses and only manage to reach the northern Lakes before longwave ridge amplification ramps back up ensuring continued dry and slightly above normal warmth through the end of the week. High pressure centered over eastern Canada will offer potential for slightly cooler temperatures Friday down to 60 with the northerly flow. Temperatures quickly recover as thermal ridge builds back into the Great Lakes for the weekend.
