Discussion

The blocking pattern continues over the eastern half of the United States. With the ridging not going anywhere any time soon, clear skies, light winds, and dry weather will continue across the state into the next week. Overall, perfect weather for the latter half of harvest season. The main focus of this forecast continues to be the above normal temperatures and lack of rain.
Temperatures will continue to be above normal as we move into the next week. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Normals for this time of year is around 62-66 degrees across central and southeastern IL. The CPC's 6-10 day, 8-14 day, and Week 3-4 outlooks all show above normal temperatures. Dry weather will last through much of the extended period as well.
Looks like a cold front will try to makes its way into IL early next week, but with how dry the airmass is, it will have a hard fight to squeeze out any impactful rainfall, if it can even make it to central IL. However, there are some <30% chances for rain for late in the week when a stronger shortwave pushes into the region, breaking down this ridging pattern we are stuck in.
