- 1. Dry weather continues this week with gradually warming temperatures.

Discussion

Key Message 1: Dry weather continues this week with gradually warming temperatures.

The extended dry period continues for the second half of the weekend and it will likely remain in place through the end of October. Mainly sunny skies are expected today with breezy northeasterly winds, which could gust into the 20 to 25 mph range, especially in the afternoon. Looking ahead to the last week of October, temperatures are forecast to gradually moderate by a degree or two each day, potentially reaching above normal values by Friday. The pattern starts to show some signs of breaking down by late week, but rather quietly as opposed to a strong frontal passage.

Aviation

VFR conditions expected through the next 24 hours.

High pressure and dry air continues to dominate the region. Winds have diminished a bit with 5 to 10 knots likely overnight. A strong LLJ will help limit fog development tonight. By Sunday mid-morning, winds should pick back up with gusts occasionally up to 20 knots through the afternoon. Winds should calm down Sunday night like the previous nights. Mostly clear skies are expected with some possible FEW- SCT VFR clouds at OGB with Atlantic moisture coming onshore.

EXTENDED AVIATION OUTLOOK...Breezy northeast winds expected to persist into next week; although gusts may subside a bit in the 10 to 15 knots range by next week.
