Key Messages

Updated at 223 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026

- Marine small craft operators should exercise caution through this evening.

- Near critical relative humidity amidst breezy winds may foster some fire concerns the next couple days. With a stagnant pattern, fire concerns may continue into next weekend.

Short Term And Long Term

(Today through next Monday) Issued at 223 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026

Dry and sunny conditions are expected to continue through the forecast period as an upper level trough remains to the east and upper level ridging builds to the west. Surface high pressure will keep winds relatively light for the next couple of days and calm winds likely during the overnight hours. This will allow for morning lows to fall into the upper 40s through mid-week. Afternoon highs are forecast to continue to warm into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees by the end of the work week.

Approaching the weekend, a surface low that is forecast to develop in the western Atlantic will create a tightening pressure gradient that will bring breezy winds over the region for the weekend. These winds may also keep afternoon temperatures within the 70s for the upcoming weekend. Overnight lows are expected to generally be in the 50s for the weekend.

Aviation

(06Z TAFS) Issued at 148 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026

Continued prevailing VFR conds expected this cycle with lighter NE winds, occasionally gusting to near 20 kts later this morning. Skies should remain mostly clear.

Marine

Issued at 223 AM EDT Tue Oct 20 2026

Small craft should exercise caution early this morning as satellite observations (ASCAT) indicate winds of around 20 kts over our open waters.

Winds and seas will remain elevated through the week. Small craft may need to exercise caution this week as winds will average around 10-15 kts and 15-20 kts through the week with seas around 2-3 feet. This weekend, a surface low will develop in the western Atlantic that will tighten the pressure gradient over the FL peninsula into the Gulf. As a result, winds and seas are expected to increase to Advisory levels.
