Details

What: South to southeast winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph.

Where: Kuskokwim Delta, Platinum and Goodnews Bay, and Northern Bristol Bay Coast.

When: Until 4 AM AKDT Saturday.

Impacts: High winds could move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult.

Additional details: Winds continue to gust in the 55 to 65 mph range for the Kuskokwim Delta, and 50 to 60 mph gusts are being felt farther south. Expect these winds to remain quite gusty through the rest of this evening, and steadily diminish through Saturday as the front moves inland and weakens.

What to do

People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Prepare for the possibility of widespread power outages. Use caution if you must drive.

Details

What: Water levels most likely around 1.0 to 2.0 feet above the normal highest tide line, with highest water levels expected near Togiak.

Where: Northern Bristol Bay Coast.

When: Now through 7AM Saturday

Impacts: Nuisance flooding of low lying areas. Coastal erosion is possible.

Additional details: A Bering front brings a prolonged period of strong southerly winds towards the coast. These winds will result in elevated water levels and high surf. This period of winds will coincide with a high tidal cycle this evening and push water levels 1.0 to 2.0 feet above the normal highest tide line. Water levels are expected to quickly drop off Saturday morning as winds decrease, alleviating coastal concerns.
