- Chances for patchy fog in the river valleys many mornings.
Discussion
Issued at 138 PM EDT Wed Oct 21 2026
Persistence forecast for the next several days, and most of the next week as the surface and lower levels of the atmosphere remain mostly under high pressure with ridging trying to build in from the west further up in the atmosphere.
This will lead to continued pleasant weather days with mostly clear skies, light winds, and temperatures right around seasonal normals. Have made a few tweaks to dew points and included patchy fog in the river valleys as we've seen the past several mornings... But otherwise this is a low impacts forecast for the southern Appalachians and eastern Tennessee Valley.
Increased clouds could move in next week as a trough swings through to our north, but as of this writing no precipitation is anticipated.
Aviation
(18Z TAFS) Issued at 138 PM EDT Wed Oct 21 2026
VFR conditions expected the next 24 hours. Some guidance is trying to bring in light fog once again overnight, but it hasn't occurred in the past couple of nights, so have left it out of the TAFs.
