Discussion
Key Message 1: Dry weather continues the remainder of this week and into this weekend with near normal daytime temperatures.
No significant changes are expected to the overall weather pattern across the region during the next seven days due to a persistent upper-level blocking pattern. Dry conditions continue with daytime temperatures near seasonal values, the upper 60s to lower 70s, through the weekend. Upper ridging moves slowly east and may break down during the early to middle portion of next week resulting slightly warmer temperatures with forecast highs in the lower to mid 70s. As is typical during this type of autumnal pattern, warm days will be followed by cool nights with near to below normal overnight temperatures, though values should remain above the freezing mark. The one caveat to a perfect weekend will be breezy northeast winds caused by an increased pressure gradient due to high pressure over New England. At the moment, wind gusts are expected to remain below Lake Wind Advisory criteria but trends will be monitored.
Aviation
VFR conditions expected through the next 24 hours.
Clear skies and light winds this morning. Winds pick up to around 5 to 10 knots after 14z with slightly better mixing leading to some intermittent wind gusts through the afternoon. Winds should subside again at sunset but should remain up a bit overnight with a low level jet forecast. Some shallow ground fog possible this morning at OGB and AGS.
EXTENDED AVIATION OUTLOOK...A bit more moisture increases this weekend possibly leading to areas of patchy fog; especially with locations near bodies of water.
