Discussion

As of 104 PM Tuesday...

KEY MESSAGE 1... Seasonable and dry fall weather through much of the period. Below normal highs expected Friday through Sunday behind reinforcing cool high pressure.

A very quiet stretch of weather will persist well into at least the early part of next week. Cool surface high pressure will remain anchored across the northeast and Mid-Atlantic states through much of the week and weekend.

A reinforcing cool high pressure system will build down Friday and persist into early next week. High temperatures will largely hover near normal in the upper 60s to lower 70s each afternoon. The one exception will be this late week and weekend, when highs in the low to mid 60s are favored under that cool high pressure. We may even have some patchy frost Saturday and Sunday mornings as lows range from the upper 30s to middle 40s, with middle 30s in the typical cooler spots.

Due to the pattern, there is virtually no threat of rain. Ensemble data suggest perhaps a chance by the middle of next week, but that chance at this point is fairly low.

Aviation

As of 755 PM Tuesday...

Canadian high pressure will extend across the ern US and maintain VFR conditions and nly surface winds in cntl NC through the 00Z TAF period and beyond for at least the next several days. Those nly surface winds may become gusty again with daytime heating around 14- 15Z Wed mainly at ern sites, where the MSL pressure gradient will be strongest between the Canadian high and coastal low pressure off the srn Middle Atlantic coast.

Outlook: VFR, as indicated above
